Exhibition/Collection Loan: The Left Front: Radical Art in the “Red Decade,” 1929–1940

The Left Front is the first large-scale exhibition of visual culture of the John Reed Club (JRC) and its successor organization, the American Artists Congress (AAC). Four works from the Terra Foundation collection provide examples of poignant representation of the working poor and art as a form of social protest. The exhibition also takes an ambitious approach to show how the artists worked within their framework, developed iconography from their ideologies, and how their art and social views demonstrated an international perspective.
