Symposium: “Collaboration and the Artist’s Book: A Transatlantic Perspective”

This four-day event addresses the key role the interactions of the arts and letters has played in the metamorphoses of art and literature over the past two centuries. Symposium participants discuss an embodiment of such a dialogue, the artist’s book, and they debated its status as artwork and its place within the contemporary art world. The symposium’s format reflects the collaborative and interdisciplinary aspects of literary and artistic interaction: scholars, publishers, curators, artists, and writers met for creative cross-disciplinary and transatlantic exchange. Poetry readings and artwork are presented at the Maison de la Poésie (Paris) following workshops at the University of Caen.
