Symposium: “Hybrid Practices in the Arts, Sciences, and Technology from the 1960s to Today”

Throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, collaborative projects uniting the arts, sciences, and technology proliferated in the United States and the United Kingdom. These projects drew on the expertise of artists, scientists, corporate executives, and politicians, and were stimulated by global events such as the Cold War and the Space Race. For this Terra Foundation-supported symposium, the Spencer Museum of Art will bring together a group of scholars to present papers on the social, cultural, and political factors that ushered in these hybrid practices in the 1960s.
