Exhibition: Transmitting Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol (1928–1987) remains one of the most influential figures of the post-war period and the central figure associated with Pop art. During the 1960s, Warhol announced his abandonment of painting to instead embrace the dispersive strategies of film, video, publishing, tape novels, performance, fashion, and immersive art environments. Through some 100 artworks, this Terra Foundation-supported exhibition will be the first to investigate Warhol’s commitment to the mass reception of his work by exploring the ways in which he extended the channels of artistic distribution.
