The Instituto de Investigaciones Esteticas will devote its 37^th annual symposium, the premier scholarly event in Latin America, to the topic of landscape aesthetics in the Americas. The Institute selected the topic to amplify the exhibition, Picturing the Americas, 1850–1950 (working title), now being organized for 2015 by the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, and the Terra Foundation. This multi-day symposium will feature approximately 30 papers by scholars from throughout the Americas. Their work on a broad range of landscape topics from all historical periods will showcase diverse disciplinary orientations and methodological approaches to the subject.
