To support the 2013 exhibition George Catlin’s Indian Gallery, which includes approximately 70 portraits of Native Americans by George Catlin that were originally displayed in London in the 1840s. In addition to tracing the stylistic development of this largely self-taught painter, the exhibition examines the creation and reception of the Indian Gallery when it made its nineteenth-century debut in Europe.
