“Duchamp and Sweden—On the Reception of Marcel Duchamp after World War II” at Moderna Museet

April 28–30, 2015
Moderna Museet, Stockholm

In 1961 Moderna Museet hosted Movement in Art, the celebrated exhibition of Marcel Duchamp’s work that marked the beginning of his long-lasting relationship with the museum. On the occasion of the exhibition, the museum’s former curator, Ulf Linde, and former director, Pontus Hulten, collaborated with Duchamp to replicate several of the artist’s works. Today, due to the efforts of Linde and Hulten, Moderna Museet holds one of the most important collections of Duchamp’s work. This symposium revisits the relationship between the artist and the museum.
