Developed in 2008 by the Art Institute of Chicago, the American Art curriculum manual highlights 45 artworks in the museum’s collection that date from the colonial period to the twentieth century. The manual contains:

- A timeline and overview of American art and cultural history, and
- Maps showing the development of the United States.
