Sharon Corwin (she/her) assumed her role as President and CEO at the Terra Foundation for American Art in 2020, where she oversees the charitable distribution of $11 million annually to expand narratives of American art. In collaboration with her colleagues, she advances the foundation’s mission by building relationships with field partners worldwide to innovate and connect practices and to broaden understandings of American art.
Before joining the Terra Foundation, Sharon was Director and Chief Curator at the Colby College Museum of Art. During her tenure there, she curated numerous exhibitions, published several books and essays, and launched the Lunder Institute for American Art in 2017.
She holds an MA and PhD in History of Art from the University of California, Berkeley and has completed leadership programs at the Museum Leadership Institute and served as a Trustee for the Association of Art Museum Directors, where she chaired the College and University Museum Directors Committee. She has also been a mentor for the Center for Curatorial Leadership. Beyond work, Sharon is sustained by traveling and hiking mountains, and she loves all dogs.
