Collection Loan: Monet and American Impressionism
Monet and American Impressionism highlights 25 American artists who responded to the paintings of Claude Monet. Organized along five thematic groupings, including “The Allure of Giverny,” and “A Graphic Legacy,” each section includes one work by Monet alongside works by American artists. Five works from the Terra Foundation collection are included in the exhibition:
- Robert Vonnoh, Jardin de paysanne (Peasant Garden), 1890
- Theodore Robinson, Père Trognon and His Daughter at the Bridge, 1891
- Frederick Frieseke, Lilies , by 1911
- Ernest Lawson, Spring Thaw, c. 1910
- Maurice Brazil Prendergast, Salem Willows, 1904
The exhibition is also on view at the Hunter Museum of American Art, Chattanooga, Tennessee (June 27–September 20, 2015) and Telfair Museums, Jepson Center for the Arts, Savannah, Georgia (October 16, 2015–January 24, 2016).
