Chicagoan Art Paul gave Playboy its distinctly American look, from the magazine’s award-winning layout to that iconic bunny. But Paul’s design sensibility has European roots. In the late 1940s, he trained at the Institute of Design, known as the “Chicago Bauhaus.” Graphic designer James Goggin recounts Paul’s aesthetic journey from mid-century to the present and discusses the work with the man himself. This lecture is part of the 2014 Chicago Humanities Festival.
