This lecture series occurs on the occasion of the New Frontier II: L’art américain entre au Louvre. Aux sources de la peinture de genre américaine exhibition at the Musée du Louvre. Scholars working in the United States and France explore the various ways in which American artists were depicting narratives between the 18th and 20th centuries. Topics range from allegories of connectedness found in American genre painting to the printmaking practice of Winslow Homer to nineteenth-century American photography. The series is organized by the Terra Foundation for American Art and the Musée du Louvre.
