Serving 20 Chicago teachers at 10 schools, this program provides professional development training sessions focused on integrating American outsider art and artists into the curriculum. Sessions include lectures, visits to collections, curriculum planning, and a student field trip. The program culminates annually with a public exhibition of students’ work at Intuit.

To support the multi-year loan of five paintings from the Terra Foundation for American Art’s collection as part of an installation providing visual context to the story of Giverny. Terra Foundation paintings are exhibited alongside works from MDIG’s permanent collection, as well as loans from Musée d’Orsay and the Musée Marmottan-Monet. The installation marks the continued presence of American art at the museum and the lasting partnership between the Terra Foundation and MDIG.

To support a series of three free panel discussions held in conjunction with screenings of Pentimenti Productions’ film Hairy Who & The Chicago Imagists (2014). The first feature-length documentary film to tell the story of the Chicago Imagists, the production explores the influences on and predecessors of the Imagists, their relationship to national and global art movements, and significance for artists working today. Panel topics include the Imagists in Hyde Park, art and comics, and the role of women in Imagism and contemporary art. Each panel is presented online on Pentimenti’s website.

To support The Visual Arts of the Black Chicago Renaissance, a professional-development and curriculum-development program for teachers at Chicago Public Schools. The program brings together local scholars and 15 teachers in grades 6–12 for a week-long summer institute focused on increasing teacher understanding of the Black Chicago Renaissance through artwork.
