To support the development of Allan Rohan Crite: Neighborhood Liturgy (working title), a collection-based exhibition at the Boston Athenaeum (with a compressed version potentially traveling to an HBCU venue) that focuses on the artistic virtuosity of the community leader, mentor, and artist Allan Rohan Crite, often called the “Dean of African American Artists in New England.” The exhibition is part of a city-wide effort (including a concurrent exhibition at the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum) that seeks to cement Crite’s place as a key figure in American cultural life.
