To support the symposium, catalogue, and 2011 exhibition Seeing Gertrude Stein: Five Stories, which examines Stein’s
work and her place in twentieth-century art and cultural history. The exhibition provides an in-depth portrait of Stein by exploring her many identities—her creativity, her engagement with multiple art forms, her domestic life, her desire for fame, and her bi-continental allegiances.
