To support planning for ORIGINAL PEOPLE: Indigenous Creativity in the American Southwest, a multidisciplinary exhibition that will be the defining statement for the museum’s interpretation of its collection. Presenting works from 40 tribal cultures spanning California to Oklahoma, the exhibition aims to shift the predominant narrative of Indigenous peoples from one that casts them as merely surviving colonialism and to present them instead as vital, ongoing contributors to American art and culture.
