To support “Sublimation: Matter, Mind, Concept in Art After Modernism”, a three-day public conference held in Mainz featuring an interdisciplinary group of scholars who will explore the implications of the notion of “sublimation” in art, specifically with regard to conceptualism and other experimental art practices in the US from the late 1950s through the 1970s. A volume of peer-reviewed papers will be published following the conference.
