To support “Hidden Forces: Painting in the 1960s and 1970s,” a two-day conference at the Museum für Moderne Kunst (Frankfurt) in 2013. The conference looks at the forms in which painting was practiced by American artists during the 1960s and 1970s and examines the art historical and critical discourse that was responsible for the perceived invisibility of painting’s influence during this period. Distribution of findings in an English-language publication is planned.
