To support the first solo exhibition of the work of Marsden Hartley (1877–1943) in Europe since 1915. Marsden Hartley: The German Paintings concentrates on the works he painted in Berlin between 1913 and 1915 and consists of roughly forty paintings from this period, with earlier and later paintings that show his stylistic development and emphasize the enormous change in his work at that time. The exhibition will be shown at the Neue Nationalgalerie and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 2014.
