Since 2006, the Terra Foundation for American Art has partnered with the Chicago Humanities Festival to bring American art scholarship to general audiences at this annual celebration of the humanities. Featuring leading scholars in the field and covering a range of topics and issues in American art, recent lectures have addressed:
- Art and design innovations of Art Paul, the first creative director of Playboy magazine and creator of its iconic bunny logo;
- The use of Native American design and artifacts in home décor in the early twentieth century;
- Creating an art museum for the twenty-first century; and
- New research on the 1913 New York Amory Show—a watershed moment in American art history—and its presentation and reception in Chicago.
