What is American art? What is its potential? What support does it need to flourish? Sharon Corwin, the Terra Foundation’s president and CEO, has dedicated her career to asking these big questions. “Now that I’m at the Terra Foundation, I get to ask these questions on a much larger scale. The Terra Foundation’s resources support projects that seek to expand narratives of American art, reflecting the richness and complexity of American experiences.” Terra is an organization with a staggering impact; in just the summer of 2024, Terra has awarded over $3.2 million in funding. This includes support for many local boundary-pushing artists and arts organizations through their initiative, Art Design Chicago.
