Terra Foundation Research Fellowship in American Art at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza

This two-year fellowship in Madrid is devoted to original research on nineteenth-century American paintings in the permanent collection of the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza. As a member of the Modern Painting department, the fellow will conduct in-depth research on a selected group of nineteenth-century paintings from this important collection. The fellow’s research will contribute to a new display of the American collection, a scholarly publication, and an international symposium.

This fellowship is at the “junior curator” level and is open to international candidates who hold an MA or PhD and are specialized in nineteenth-century American art history. Candidates should have substantial work experience in museums and be fluent in both Spanish and English. The deadline for applications is March 22, 2020.
