The Terra Foundation for American Art has awarded CAA a major, three-year grant to administer an annual program to support book-length scholarly manuscripts in the history of American art, visual studies, and related subjects that are under contract with a publisher. For this grant program, “American art” is defined as art (circa 1500–1980) of what is now the geographic United States. Awards will be made in two distinct categories:
- Grants to publishers for manuscripts on American art; and
- Grants for the translation of books on topics in American art to or from English.
Two non-US authors (applicants to the grant to non-US publishers and the grant for translation) of top-ranked awarded books will be provided a stipend for travel to the CAA annual conference, complimentary registration for the conference, and a one-year membership to CAA.
For more information about application deadlines, and the application guidelines, process, schedule, and checklist, please visit the CAA website.
Letters of intent have an annual deadline of September 15.
