To support Modern by Design: Chicago Streamlines America, an exhibition about Chicago’s role in shaping the look and feel of modern America. Featuring roughly 150 industrial, graphic, and interior design objects, Modern by Design will explore Chicago’s role in adapting modernism in the 1930s for the mass market by redesigning common household objects in a style that came to be known as “streamlined” design. The exhibition is accompanied by a multi-author book published by the Chicago Art Deco Society.
