To support the exhibition A Bold and Beautiful Vision: A Century of Black Arts Education in Washington, D.C., 1900–2000 at the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum. The project illuminates the long and rich tradition of African American artist-educators in the nation’s capital who—despite an underfunded, overcrowded, and segregated school system—inspired generations of young people to be interested in the arts.
