To support the 2013–2014 exhibition Art and Appetite. From America’s earliest decades, artists have continually turned to the subject of food as a means of celebrating and critiquing issues of politics, race, class, gender, and economics and tracing the development of American identity. Along with paintings, the exhibition also highlights decorative objects related to the American table from the 18th through 20th centuries.
