To support the 2011 symposium “Art across Frontiers: Cross-Cultural Encounters in America,” organized by the School of American and Canadian Studies. The two-day international symposium explores the impact of transnationalism on the visual arts in the United States through cultures in migration, looking at transcultural exchange between Euro-American, Native American, African American, and Latino-American interactions within the United States, as well as cross-border relations between the art of the United States and the visual cultures of the Americas from the colonial period to the present.
