To support “Transatlantic Gardens and Enlightenment Ideas in American Art,” a two-day international symposium co-organized by the University of Sydney and the University of Southampton. Ten speakers will investigate how ideas about, and representations of, landscapes developed and were transmitted across the Atlantic in the 18^th century. It will be hosted at the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s Virginia estate.
